Geol 101 - F09 - Section 1 - Matheney - 1:00 - 1:50 p.m., MWF, Leonard Hall Lecture Bowl (Room 100).
This course is an introduction to the geology of the Earth. We review earth materials -- rocks, minerals and related materials. We look at Earth dynamics -- volcanoes, earthquakes, plate tectonics, streams, groundwater, glaciers, and many other things. Special focus is placed on practical aspects: why is geology important and how does it impact our lives. In the lab section, we introduce the tools commonly used by geologists.
